Hanging out in my backyard on a beautiful day!

Yes, Lydia, I know we have weeds... I'm sure Daddy will appreciate you pointing that out.

Over and over again.
Believe it or not, this shot below is a kiss. Lydia hugs and kisses a lot. They are the funniest little kisses. She doesn't pucker, but instead she clenches her jaw and presses her lips or her chin on you. And it's aggressive! These are not gentle hugs and kisses - she puts her whole self into it! It's really sweet. I got a LOT of these aggressive little hugs and kisses this afternoon. Evidently she missed me while I was away for work! When Oliver got home he received a really really good squeeze from her and some strong kisses as well. What a sweet kid we have.

I had to travel for work this week. Quick trip - I left early Tuesday morning and returned Wednesday afternoon. Oliver was flying solo as SuperDad (with some support from his Mom "Omi" of course.) I missed my sweet Lydia, and picked her up straight from the airport. The weather this afternoon was perfect - very spring-like, so we took advantage and had her afternoon snack in the backyard. We rarely use our backyard at this point... One day it will be great, but at this point Lydia barely knows it exists. For one thing, there's a hill that isn't ideal for an awkward toddler, and the grass back there is pretty much dead for winter (with the exception of weeds which apparently can live through anything!). We'd like to build a patio back there one day, but til then, we just really don't use the backyard much. The grass was kind of long at the end of the mowing season, so now it's really thick. It was pretty funny to watch Lydia trudge through the thick dead grass, and then manipulate the uneveness and the hill without falling. She loved the fresh air and sunshine though, and we had fun together. I can't wait until spring so we can start going to the park again, taking walks and enjoying the fresh air! I'm through with winter!
