Ah, the weekends. LOVE them. Lydia and I had an extra long weekend together, because I took 3 days off from work! Lydia's Daddy did not get a vacation... Poor Daddy.

On Saturday the 3 of us took a family ride to downtown Dallas for the Health and Fitness Expo. Oliver and I were scheduled to participate in the Rock n Roll Dallas Half Marathon the next day and needed to pick up our packets. The half-marathon benefitted Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the non-profit that I work for! The drive down there was a long one, but once we arrived Lydia got to walk around the Expo and had a great time. She strutted her stuff as though she knew exactly where she was headed, and then stopped cold when she spotted a giant big screen TV with a video of the Race course playing on it. She loves TV, what can I say? We cruised the Expo a bit longer and then left to head home for her nap. She fell asleep on the way, which ended up being her entire nap for the day. Bummer.

The next day was the Half-Marathon, so Lydia's day began at 5:15 AM. We changed her diaper and clothes and then transported her over to Grammy and Poppy's by 6 AM, just in time for breakfast. Liam came over there later, so Lydia got to play with her cousin for awhile. (Liam started to cry when Lydia was leaving - he likes her!) Meanwhile, Oliver and I were busy accomplishing 13.1 miles together. It was a great event. The Race course took us through the most beautiful parts of Dallas. It started at Dallas City Hall and took us by the Crescent Hotel, Turtle Creek, Highland Park/SMU, and we ended up all the way back at Fair Park for a finish line concert. I was pooped, but Oliver felt great. No surprise he's a better athlete, but I held my own. It was a fun day. Oliver kept me motivated and accountable and it was fun to do the event together.

Friday, Monday and Tuesday, Lydia and I "stay-cationed" together. We ran errands, cleaned the house a bit, visited a preschool we're interested in for this Fall, cooked a dinner recipe I normally wouldn't have had time for, played outside, played inside, and...lamented how incredibly sore I was from the half-marathon. I could barely carry her downstairs without my quad muscles nearly giving out on me. I know...whine, whine, whine. And of course Oliver isn't sore at all!

Lydia and I created a new game where she gets into her new favorite chair (she spends a LOT of time in this chair lately) and I send each of her stuffed animals flying through the air to land on her. They make a silly noise as they fly, of course. She loved it.

Lydia is so physical lately. She likes her toys just fine, but really what she prefers to do these days is climb on the furniture, climb on us, play outside, spin around in the rolling chair, and tickle/wrestle. Baby dolls? Nope. Read books? Yes, but not nearly as much as she used to. Toys? Yes, but they are not even close to being as exciting as climbing on stuff! I was kind of impressed that she got all situated on this bean bag chair ottoman by herself and then just sat there like she was the Queen!

In unfortunate news, yesterday evening we were playing outside in the front yard, walking up and down the street, having a great time, when she got all excited and started to run. She really loves being outside and loves to walk independently down the sidewalk like she's headed somewhere really important. I was just a few feet behind her of course, when she tripped....fell forward...and scraped her cute little face. Tears, tears, tears. I picked her up quickly and saw blood on the front of her nose, and a big lump on her forehead. The bleeding was slight - she basically has a little strawberry on the front of her nose. The lump on her forehead is a pretty good sized one, and she has redness under her nose and above her lip. She more or less face-planted and scraped her entire face. It's SO sad. She recovered really quickly though after lots of love, and wanted to continue playing after that. I put her on my back for a piggy-back ride after that, and we stayed outside until Daddy got home. He scooped her up and gave her lots of love for her owies. Then, inside to have a bath. She's not in pain and has emotionally recovered, but she woke up this morning with a red nose and the bruise/lump on her forehead. Poor little thing. She's still so beautiful though.
