Lydia had her dreaded 2-month appointment yesterday. I say dreaded, because the 2-month appointment is when a baby receives it's first round of vaccinations.
First the good news - Lydia weighed in at 13.9 lbs and 23 5/8 inches long. That puts her in the 95th+ percentile for weight and 90th percentile for length. In other words, less than 5% of babies her age weigh more than her, and only 10% are longer. She is well on her way to growing into the starting position on the women's basketball team at the University of Texas! Now, all we have to do is work on her jump-shot.
As for the "dreaded" appointment. I am happy to say that Lydia did fantastic. She only cried for a minute or so. Her mom and I were so proud of her! For all my fellow Biology homies and those who are curious; the vaccinations she had are listed below:
  • Hep-B1 protects against Hepatitis B, a serious liver disease

  • DTaP2 protects against Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (whooping cough)

  • Hib3 protects against Hemophilus influenza type B
  • IPV4 protects against Polio
  • Pneumococcal5 vaccine protects against Pneumococcal Disease
  • Rotavirus9 vaccine protects against gastroenteritis
