Yesterday was a busy, but fun day! We went out early to meet up with my friend Shannon (Gracie Gauger's Mommy) in Allen for a family photo shoot! Shannon hopes to launch a photography business, and offered to take pictures of us for her portfolio! We love that, because at Lydia's age, the very last place we want to go is to an expensive photo studio, where she may or may not smile, and may or may not cooperate! This was much easier. Unfortunately, Lydia was consumed by the fresh air, the water falls, the grass, etc...and wasn't a perfect little model by any stretch of the imagination. Big smiles were hard to come by. But Shannon was patient and in the end caught some great expressions, and we love what she did for us. We like casual pictures that reflect real moments, and these really show Lydia as herself at age 2. Great job, Shannon! (And thanks for being so patient and easy-going, as always!)
The Daddy and Lydia picture above is one that Shannon took yesterday. (I love it!) Here are a few others for now:

And this one below, I just included because Lydia is making a zurbert sound and has a funny face. Cute memory of her 2 year-old-ness.
Yesterday evening, we had some friends over for dinner. Their 2 children are SO SWEET, and Lydia fell in love with them. At first, when our guests arrived, she was really clingy and a little upset because she doesn't know them very well. (they met once before at her birthday party) But later, she realized..."these kids are fun!" and had a BLAST with them. Naiya and Marcus worked very hard to make Lydia laugh hysterically, and boy was she ever laughing! They danced for her, made silly sounds for her, and she just laughed and laughed and laughed... Meanwhile, we parents were in the kitchen talking and Naiya (5 years old) comes in to tell us that Lydia just gave her a hug. It was so sweet. Then a little bit later, we see Lydia walking around wearing Naiya's cute homemade necklace. I told Naiya we would be sure Lydia returned it to her before they go home, and Naiya replied "That's okay. I gave it to her! She can keep it." Aw....she gave Lydia a present! When they would charge up the stairs, Lydia was right after them, happy as she could be. She loves her new friends.
Here are a couple of videos of Marcus and Naiya entertaining Lydia. You can hear Lydia's deep laugh over and over - she loved it.
