Loooooong weekends are the greatest, aren’t they? Our Memorial Day weekend has been fun. On Saturday night we met up with Grammy and Poppy for dinner at TGI Fridays. Grammy brought Lydia a helium balloon – which she LOVES. Simple pleasures. She’s been carrying it around the house ever since then. On Sunday we went to church, and then after naps we headed out to Keller for a barbeque and swimming with Aunt Katie, Uncle Mike, Warner and Miles.
We had a great time! There was one very unfortunate incident when Lydia may have pushed Warner into the rose bush…probably because she didn’t want to share something, I would imagine. Un-Oh. Poor Warner got rose thorn scratches on his face! Naughty, naughty Lydia! I guess this is what kids do when they’re learning how to express themselves, but that certainly doesn’t make it okay. We’re sorry Warner! After a great barbeque dinner on the patio, we went to their community swimming pool. It was Miles’ and Molly’s first time to go swimming! Neither of them liked it very much… The water wasn’t quite warm enough for their little bodies, but Warner and Lydia had a terrific time!
The pool has a rule that little kids wear special swim pants over their swim diapers, and thankfully we didn’t have to buy one for Molly…she got to borrow Warner’s old one. Only once did someone say…”Aw, he’s so cute.” (To which I was only mildly offended…)
Warner had a such a great time that he didn’t mind being cold… But once he got out of the water…brrrrr! Although it was warm outside, it was also pretty breezy. Happy Memorial Day!

Lydia goes to preschool 5 days a week from 7:50 AM – 10:50 AM. Either Oliver, me or Lydia’s Omi picks her up from school and then usually she gets to go to either the playground or to the mall or to McDonalds or occasionally to Grammy’s house… Always something fun. Today I picked her up and she and Molly and I went to the park and had a picnic! It was fun! The grass was wet and muddy from thunderstorms the night before, so we had a concrete picnic…but it was still fun.
Molly enjoyed lying in the shade… She liked to watch the trees above her. It was about 82 degrees outside, so the temp was just perfect in the shade.
After our picnic, we went to play on the playground. Lydia recently learned how to sign “Swings”, so when she pointed to the swings, gave me her sign and said “Ssssss”, off we went to the swings! (Her vocabulary is increasing each day… We’re so proud of her.)
I’m sure Molly would have loved to have tried out the swings for the first time, but they were too hot from the sun, plus I was busy pushing Lydia…so she just watched. Maybe next time, Molly!
Just a hodgepodge of recent pictures and videos…
Showing me how she prays… She’s very into praying lately. Loves it. How cute is that??
This cracks me up… She’s peeking at herself to see what she looks like while she’s praying.
Below… Sisters wearing the same outfit!
Notice my hands in this picture below. I was on edge expecting Lydia to possibly be too aggressive with her baby sister… Ready to intervene and save Molly!
There are two things about this picture (below) which are impossible to miss: Molly’s chubs (so cute) and Oliver’s black eye! No…I didn’t do it to him… (that’s the first joke everyone makes, and it’s quite funny). He got it in a football game. It was a really bad, not to mention really gross black eye… We’re grateful his eye is okay, because the injury was really bad just right above it.
Molly’s been very busy playing and learning…
Here’s a picture her baby-sitter Stephanie took the other day. They made a ladybug out of a toilet paper roll! Can you believe Molly gets to do arts and crafts with her baby-sitter at just 5 months old!? Stephanie is AWESOME.
Dancing! Lydia’s current favorite song is one from a CD of the Prestonwood Baptist Church choir. The second she hears the very first note of the song…she lights up BIG TIME!
Lydia’s cousin Liam came over to play the other day. They played the Elefun game! Liam was much more focused on the task at hand than Lydia was…
Unfortunately I didn’t catch as many good pics of the 2 of them as I would have liked. They played a lot with her kitchen.
Coloring… And telling me “Red, Blue, Yellow and Green” as she points to each color. (Actually she just says the first consonant of each word, but that’s great progress with her speech!)
Running around with no clothes on after a bath…! It’s all fun and games until somebody PEES on the carpet. Which she did…about 60 seconds after this picture. Super Daddy to the rescue with his carpet spray.
And that’s a perfect note to end on!

And today Molly went to the Doctor for her 4 month check-up! She's doing great. She received shots, of course... There's nothing sadder than seeing that precious little round face get all red, and those ocean-sized tears come out of her sweet little eyes...and that super sad little cry... Oh, it's just awful. But we survived! I think her legs were sore this afternoon and evening, but a little dose of Tylenol and now she's snoooooozing peacefully.
Weight: 16.05 lbs (92nd percentile)
Length: 25 in (77th percentile)
Head: 16.5 cm (70th percentile)
Molly gained 4 lbs and grew 2 inches in 2 months, and she has more than doubled her birth weight. Wow! If you're curious how this compares to Lydia at this age... Molly is one pound lighter and 1 inch shorter than Lydia was. But their heads are the same size!
I have to tell you... I am SOOOOO madly in love with this little peanut these days! I've loved her from day one, but she really, really, REALLY has my heart these days. I am so, so, SO in love with her. I've always felt this way about Lydia, too, and honestly when I was pregnant with Molly it was hard to imagine how I could possibly have the same degree of love for a second little baby. But now I totally get it! It's just like my Mom told me that it would be... I can't imagine my life without Molly. And I suppose since I've spent so many hours, morning, noon and night with her, she feels like my favorite friend in the whole world. I love being with her. I mean, look at this face!!!
