Today Mommy and Lydia went to the park to watch Daddy play flag football!  Daddy scored 3 touchdowns in the first game!  In the second game, well…we’re not sure because SOMEbody was feeling very adventurous and we ended up waaaaaaay down the field away from all of the action!  (And SOMEbody didn’t want to obey when Mommy said it was time to go back to the other side of the field.)  It was a beautiful day outside (although a little warm for late October!) and we had fun.

Poor little Lydia caught a stomach bug over the weekend! It only lasted about 12 hours, but those 12 hours were not fun! She woke up early Sunday morning and threw up... and proceeded to do so again about every 30 minutes or so for a couple of hours. Her tummy was completely empty, but that didn't stop the yucks from coming anyway. She never cried, but was sad and just wanted to snuggle and be loved on, which we were happy to do for her! She fell asleep for about an hour on our bed that morning, and later had another good 3 hour nap in her bed. In between, we read books and watched a lot of videos. It was a video marathon day...she was so lethargic and didn't want to play. The videos helped her rest, which was good, and we just stayed close to her and loved on her all day. Thankfully, by Sunday evening following her good nap, she was able to keep small doses of Pedialyte down, and her energy went WAY up! She was back to her old self with no more yucks! The next day, she was tired and her appetite was low, but otherwise she was better. There's nothing sadder than when your little one is sick and feels bad, is there?

And what do you think happened next? Mommy caught it! Yes, it hit Tuesday and I felt LOUSY. Grammy had Lydia at her house on Monday, and by Wednesday...it hit her too. So sad! But everyone is better now, and Daddy managed to avoid it altogether. We'll take some HAPPY face pictures soon, since these are sad little pics today! Speaking of pictures, Lydia had her very first school picture day this week. We haven't received the proofs yet... We're not holding our breaths that she actually posed and smiled. We'll see!

R.I.P. "Fish"

Thankfully, Lydia did not witness his demise... It happened while none of us were home. She did, however, find him floating in his bowl before we had a chance to move it from the table. Oops. So, what did we tell her the fish was doing? Taking a nap, of course! (Video, below.) She totally bought it, and just smiled and watched him for a minute. (So sad!)

Today we went to a pumpkin patch up the street from our house. This is Lydia's 3rd year to visit this pumpkin patch. It's our tradition now. Last weekend we went to another one in Grapevine with her cousin Warner and Aunt Katie and Uncle Mike. We didn't realize that our camera battery was about to die, so we didn't come away with any pictures from that day. But today, Daddy snapped and snapped and snapped the camera, trying to get our 2010 pumpkin photo. She's not the best model... She won't stand still for anything, and certainly won't smile on demand. We have to accept that at this age, candid shots are all we're going to get! This photo is the sweetest one.

We met some friends there (a co-worker of mine, his wife and their 2 boys. They live very close to us. It was fun to meet them there, although the kids didn't really interact much. There was too much to see and do, to stop and make a new friend!

Throwing hay is so much fun! She did this for about 10 minutes.

Time to go home... We purchased 1 large pumpkin, 1 medium pumpkin, and 2 little ones (a Lydia-sized one, and a Molly-sized one.)

An update on Lydia's little sister...
I went to the Doctor this week and got another great report. I'm 28 1/2 weeks, and Molly is estimated to weigh about 2 lbs 11 oz according to measurements taken on a sonogram. Way to grow Molly! I can't believe she's that big. She's growing fast now, and it makes this more real somehow! I also had my glucose screening test (a routine test given around 27-29 weeks to check for gestational diabetes). My results were normal. We have just about 2 1/2 months to go, can you believe it?!

GUESS WHAT TODAY IS???
It's Lydia's 2 and a half year old birthday! Yes, she's officially 2 and a half now...such a big girl!
It also happens to be Columbus Day, which means a holiday from work! Having a day off from work is always a good, good, GOOD thing. And it meant that Lydia and Mommy got to have a play day together!
In the morning, we went to speech therapy. Lydia had fun there, as she always does. From there, we went to Super Target (our home away from home).

She was all silly in the car, and wouldn't take her blanket off of her face. She even clapped along while I sang "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands" still hiding her little face the whole time! She thought she was pretty funny.

Later, in honor of her half birthday, we went out to do something special! We went to Petco! Hmm... a pet store... What could that mean? I'll tell you in a minute. Lydia had a TON of fun at the pet store. She loved it! She saw guinea pigs, parrots, ferrets, turtles, hamsters, and tons of fish, among other things. She went from cage to cage, tank to tank, having fun observing the animals.

So, do you think we bought a pet while we were at Petco? Of course we did! Do you think we bought a pet that has a lot of hair, sheds, needs to be walked and is generally very high-maintenance? Of course not!

Lydia got a goldfish.

If you've been watching Lydia's blog for awhile, you may remember that her Grammy and Poppy got her a goldfish last Christmas. Her name was Dorothy. (well, her full name was Dorothy #2, because she was actually the second fish Grammy purchased before giving Lydia her Dorothy on Christmas Eve. The first one didn't make it!) Dorothy #2 had long, happy life at our house...for about 2 weeks. Today seemed like a great day to try again. We haven't officially named our new pet, yet. Dorothy #3? I'm thinking her name will just be Fish. Clever, huh?

Let's have a moment of silence for Dorothy #2, shall we? Here she was on Christmas Eve 2009. She made Lydia very happy.

Where has the time gone? For that matter, where did September go?? Needless to say, we've been really busy. And pregnant.

Last weekend we went to a birthday party for a very special little girl. Lydia's friend Gracie turned 3! We had lots of fun. First we played on the playground for a little while, then we went over to Gracie's party area for pizza, cake, and more play.

Lydia didn't want to try the pizza. This was no surprise to her parents, who came prepared with her fave snacks.

Lydia colored with chalk for the first time. That was fun!

Gracie's Mommy managed to get all of the kids lined up on a bench for a group picture! (as you can imagine, in the foreground you have parents dancing, making faces, telling their kids not to move yet, and bribing them with snacks or toys. See Lydia's can of puffs in her hand?)

Hi everybody! What have you been up to? Here's what I've been up to!

(A note from Mommy... Sorry for the long wordy post, but this blog is also a keepsake for Lydia, so I like to capture all of her comings and goings and memories.)

This weekend was fun! It started on Friday when Daddy stayed home from work to play with me ALL DAY LONG! I am so lucky to have such a good Daddy. Then, on Saturday, Mommy was home too, so we all played together all day! On Sunday, we went to church, and then that night Grammy and Poppy came over to my house to play with me and to have dinner with us. Grammy said she wanted to play ball with me (one of my FAVORITE things to do!). So, Mommy gathered up all of my different sized balls and Grammy and I went into the dining room (a.k.a. my large empty playroom) and had a blast! I got worn out before she did!

Mommy says I was "very chatty" this weekend. I'm trying to learn to say words and express myself the way they do...it's just taking me a little longer than what the textbooks say. But I babble a lot and talk to them in my own special way. I have also learned some sign language at my speech therapy sessions.

Mommy and Daddy say that God created me in His perfect image, and that I belong to Him and the enemy isn't allowed to mess with me. And they also said that when Jesus died on the cross, he took all sickness and even speech delays on the cross with him, and none of us ever have to have anything hinder us. We just need to have faith and believe that God's word is true, just like how we have faith to believe we are saved. When God created me, He had a really, really neat plan for my life, and I am going to fulfill it! I can't wait to show you what God can do, all because He loves us so much!

Although I don't say a lot of words yet, I know a lot of things! One of my favorite things to do is look at word books and flashcards. When Daddy quizzes me, asking me to point to certain things, I get it right 100% of the time! I know my colors, my shapes, some letters and literally hundreds of animals, objects and types of food. Daddy is especially amazed that if you ask me to point to the picture of a "meerkat" or a "puffin" from a group of 15 flashcards, I always get it right!

I really like my puzzles and I'm getting better at putting them together. Sometimes my favorite way to play with the puzzles is to throw the pieces everywhere. That's really fun! But I am also getting more coordinated and I can fit the shapes in the right spot, and put the fish tails on the right fish. I like my puzzles.

I really like my preschool. I love my teachers and my new friends. I make a lot of art projects and bring them home to Mommy and Daddy. And I am a great napper. I always take my nap when they tell me to, and I am usually the last kid to wake up (and only because it's time for me to go home! Otherwise I'd keep sleeping!).

You know what else I like? The new Kindle commercial on TV! It's a commercial with 2 people sitting on a beach reading an e-book on their Kindle, and I LOVE THE SONG in the background! Daddy DVR'd it, so now I can watch it anytime. I dance and dance to that song...

Mommy decorated our house for fall. We have a lot of decorative pumpkins around the house and she won't let me play with them. She says I'll treat them like they're balls and throw them, just like I did with the apple and the orange that I got out of the refridgerator. Bummer.

Mommy has a big tummy now. Sometimes it gets in the way when I'm trying to sit in her lap or lay on her. She moves me over and says "Oh Lydia...you can't sit right there, sweetie...you have to skootch over a but." She keeps saying there's a baby in there. That doesn't make any sense though! Mommy also keeps trying to get me to play with my baby dolls more, and I think that has something to do with it. I do treat them better than I used to... I used to throw them on the floor to go do something else that is more fun. Now, when Mommy asks me to give the baby a kiss, I do. Mommy says the baby doll's name is Molly. :)
